佛说阿弥陀经

《佛说阿弥陀经》是释迦牟尼佛在憍萨罗国舍卫城的南方祇园精舍,与长老舍利弗等十六位大弟子及文殊等大菩萨以及诸多佛弟子而说的经典。

经文正文

如是我闻。一时佛在舍卫国,祇树给孤独园。与大比丘僧千二百五十人俱,皆是大阿罗汉,众所知识:长老舍利弗、摩诃目犍连、摩诃迦叶、摩诃迦旃延、摩诃俱絺罗、离婆多、周利槃陀伽、难陀、阿难陀、罗睺罗、憍梵波提、宾头卢颇罗堕、迦留陀夷、摩诃劫宾那、薄拘罗、阿㝹楼驮,如是等诸大弟子。

如是我聞。一時佛在舍衛國,祇樹給孤獨園。與大比丘僧千二百五十人俱,皆是大阿羅漢,眾所知識:長老舍利弗、摩訶目犍連、摩訶迦葉、摩訶迦旃延、摩訶俱絺羅、離婆多、周利槃陀伽、難陀、阿難陀、羅睺羅、憍梵波提、賓頭盧頗羅墮、迦留陀夷、摩訶劫賓那、薄拘羅、阿㝹樓馱,如是等諸大弟子。

Thus I have heard: At one time, the Buddha dwelt in Śrāvastī, in the Jeta Grove, in the Garden of the Benefactor of Orphans and the Solitary, together with a gathering of great bhikṣus, twelve hundred fifty in all, all great Arhats whom the assembly knew and recognized: Elders Śāriputra, Mahāmaudgalyāyana, Mahākāśyapa, Mahākātyāyana, Mahākauṣṭhila, Revata, Śuddhipanthaka, Nanda, Ānanda, Rāhula, Gavāṃpati, Pindolabhāradvāja, Kalodayin, Mahākapphiṇa, Vakula, Aniruddha, and so forth, all great disciples.

西方净土

尔时,佛告长老舍利弗:从是西方,过十万亿佛土,有世界名曰极乐,其土有佛,号阿弥陀,今现在说法。

爾時,佛告長老舍利弗:從是西方,過十萬億佛土,有世界名曰極樂,其土有佛,號阿彌陀,今現在說法。

At that time, the Buddha told the Elder Śāriputra, "Passing from here through hundreds of thousands of millions of Buddha-lands to the West, there is a world called Ultimate Bliss. In this land there is a Buddha named Amitāyus, who is now teaching the Dharma."

七宝庄严

舍利弗,彼土何故名为极乐?其国众生,无有众苦,但受诸乐,故名极乐。

舍利弗,彼土何故名為極樂?其國眾生,無有眾苦,但受諸樂,故名極樂。

Śāriputra, why is this land called Ultimate Bliss? Because the beings in this land suffer no pain but only enjoy pleasures of various kinds. For this reason, it is called Ultimate Bliss.

劝信念佛

舍利弗,若有善男子善女人,闻说阿弥陀佛,执持名号,若一日、若二日、若三日、若四日、若五日、若六日、若七日,一心不乱。

舍利弗,若有善男子善女人,聞說阿彌陀佛,執持名號,若一日、若二日、若三日、若四日、若五日、若六日、若七日,一心不亂。

Śāriputra, if there are good men or good women who hear of Amitābha Buddha and recite his name wholeheartedly without confusion for one day, two days, three days, four days, five days, six days, or seven days...

临终接引

其人临命终时,阿弥陀佛与诸圣众,现在其前。是人终时,心不颠倒,即得往生阿弥陀佛极乐国土。

其人臨命終時,阿彌陀佛與諸聖眾,現在其前。是人終時,心不顛倒,即得往生阿彌陀佛極樂國土。

...when these people are about to die, Amitābha Buddha and all the sacred beings will appear before them. When their lives come to an end, their minds will not be in chaos, and they will attain rebirth in Amitābha Buddha's land of Ultimate Bliss.

诸佛赞叹

舍利弗,如我今者,赞叹阿弥陀佛不可思议功德之利。东方亦有阿閦鞞佛、须弥相佛、大须弥佛、须弥光佛、妙音佛,如是等恒河沙数诸佛。

舍利弗,如我今者,讚歎阿彌陀佛不可思議功德之利。東方亦有阿閦鞞佛、須彌相佛、大須彌佛、須彌光佛、妙音佛,如是等恆河沙數諸佛。

Śāriputra, as I now praise the inconceivable benefits derived from Amitābha Buddha, in the East there are also Akṣobhya Buddha, Sumeru Appearance Buddha, Great Sumeru Buddha, Sumeru Light Buddha, and Wonderful Sound Buddha, as many Buddhas as the sands of the Ganges.

净土庄严

舍利弗,于汝意云何?何故名为一切诸佛所护念经?舍利弗,若有善男子、善女人,闻是经受持者,及闻诸佛名者。

舍利弗,於汝意云何?何故名為一切諸佛所護念經?舍利弗,若有善男子、善女人,聞是經受持者,及聞諸佛名者。

Śāriputra, what do you think? Why is this sutra called 'The Sutra that is protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas'? Śāriputra, if there are good men or good women who hear this sutra and uphold it, and who also hear the names of all these Buddhas...

念佛功德

是诸善男子、善女人,皆为一切诸佛之所护念,皆得不退转于阿耨多罗三藐三菩提。

是諸善男子、善女人,皆為一切諸佛之所護念,皆得不退轉於阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。

...all these good men and good women will be protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas, and all of them will attain non-retrogression in Anuttarā Samyaksaṃbodhi.

七重栏楯

又舍利弗。极乐国土,七重栏楯,七重罗网,七重行树,皆是四宝,周匝围绕,是故彼国名为极乐。

又舍利弗。極樂國土,七重欄楯,七重羅網,七重行樹,皆是四寶,周匝圍繞,是故彼國名為極樂。

Moreover, Śāriputra, in that land there are seven rows of balustrades, seven rows of netting, and seven rows of trees, all formed from four kinds of jewels and extending far and wide. For this reason, that land is called Ultimate Bliss.

七宝池八功德水

又舍利弗。极乐国土,有七宝池,八功德水,充满其中,池底纯以金沙布地。四边阶道,金、银、琉璃、玻璃合成。上有楼阁,亦以金、银、琉璃、玻璃、砗磲、赤珠、玛瑙而严饰之。

又舍利弗。極樂國土,有七寶池,八功德水,充滿其中,池底純以金沙布地。四邊階道,金、銀、琉璃、玻璃合成。上有樓閣,亦以金、銀、琉璃、玻璃、硨磲、赤珠、瑪瑙而嚴飾之。

Moreover, Śāriputra, in that land there are pools of the seven jewels, filled with the waters of eight meritorious qualities. The bottom of each pool is pure golden sand, and the stepped walkways that ascend the banks on all four sides are made of gold, silver, beryl, and crystal. Above are towers and pavilions adorned with gold, silver, beryl, crystal, mother-of-pearl, red pearls, and carnelian.

莲花化生

池中莲花大如车轮,青色青光、黄色黄光、赤色赤光、白色白光,微妙香洁。

池中蓮花大如車輪,青色青光、黃色黃光、赤色赤光、白色白光,微妙香潔。

The lotuses in the pools are as large as chariot wheels: the blue ones radiate blue light, the yellow ones radiate yellow light, the red ones radiate red light, and the white ones radiate white light. They are subtle, wonderful, fragrant, and pure.

天乐供养

舍利弗,极乐国土,成就如是功德庄严。又舍利弗,彼佛国土,常作天乐,黄金为地,昼夜六时,雨天曼陀罗华。

舍利弗,極樂國土,成就如是功德莊嚴。又舍利弗,彼佛國土,常作天樂,黃金為地,晝夜六時,雨天曼陀羅華。

Śāriputra, the land of Ultimate Bliss is complete with all these merits and adornments. Moreover, Śāriputra, in that Buddha-land heavenly music is played continually, and the ground is made of gold. In the six periods of the day and night, a rain of mandarava flowers falls from the heavens.

众鸟说法

其土众生,常以清旦,各以衣祴盛众妙华,供养他方十万亿佛。即以食时,还到本国,饭食经行。

其土眾生,常以清旦,各以衣祴盛眾妙華,供養他方十萬億佛。即以食時,還到本國,飯食經行。

The beings in this land at the beginning of each day bring bunches of wonderful flowers to the other Buddha-lands in the ten directions as offerings to the hundreds of thousands of millions of Buddhas. When it is meal time, they return to their own land to eat and circumambulate.

光明无量

舍利弗,于汝意云何?彼佛何故号阿弥陀?舍利弗,彼佛光明无量,照十方国,无所障碍,是故号为阿弥陀。

舍利弗,於汝意云何?彼佛何故號阿彌陀?舍利弗,彼佛光明無量,照十方國,無所障礙,是故號為阿彌陀。

Śāriputra, what do you think? Why is that Buddha called Amitābha? Śāriputra, the light of that Buddha is infinite, illuminating the lands of the ten directions without obstruction. For this reason, he is called Amitābha.

寿命无量

又舍利弗,彼佛寿命,及其人民,无量无边阿僧祇劫,故名阿弥陀。

又舍利弗,彼佛壽命,及其人民,無量無邊阿僧祇劫,故名阿彌陀。

Moreover, Śāriputra, the life of that Buddha and that of his people extends for measureless, limitless asamkhyeya kalpas. For this reason, he is called Amitāyus.

不退转地

舍利弗,阿弥陀佛成佛已来,于今十劫。又舍利弗,彼佛有无量无边声闻弟子,皆阿罗汉,非是算数之所能知。诸菩萨众,亦复如是。

舍利弗,阿彌陀佛成佛已來,於今十劫。又舍利弗,彼佛有無量無邊聲聞弟子,皆阿羅漢,非是算數之所能知。諸菩薩眾,亦復如是。

Śāriputra, since Amitābha Buddha attained Buddhahood, ten kalpas have passed. Moreover, Śāriputra, that Buddha has innumerable, limitless shravaka disciples, all of whom are Arhats, whose number cannot be reckoned by any means. The assembly of Bodhisattvas is also like this.

往生利益

舍利弗,彼佛国土,成就如是功德庄严。又舍利弗,极乐国土,众生生者,皆是阿鞞跋致,其中多有一生补处,其数甚多,非是算数所能知之,但可以无量无边阿僧祇说。

舍利弗,彼佛國土,成就如是功德莊嚴。又舍利弗,極樂國土,眾生生者,皆是阿鞞跋致,其中多有一生補處,其數甚多,非是算數所能知之,但可以無量無邊阿僧祇說。

Śāriputra, the land of that Buddha is complete with all these merits and adornments. Moreover, Śāriputra, those who are born in the Land of Ultimate Bliss are all avaivartika. Among them are many who in one more lifetime will attain Buddhahood. Their number is extremely many; it cannot be reckoned by any means but can only be spoken of as measureless, limitless asamkhyeyas.

发愿往生

舍利弗,众生闻者,应当发愿,生彼国土。所以者何?得与如是诸上善人俱会一处。

舍利弗,眾生聞者,應當發願,生彼國土。所以者何?得與如是諸上善人俱會一處。

Śāriputra, beings who hear of this should vow, "I wish to be born in that land." And why? So that they may be together with all those superior men.

善根福德

舍利弗,不可以少善根福德因缘,得生彼国。舍利弗,若有善男子、善女人,闻说阿弥陀佛,执持名号,若一日,若二日,若三日,若四日,若五日,若六日,若七日,一心不乱。

舍利弗,不可以少善根福德因緣,得生彼國。舍利弗,若有善男子、善女人,聞說阿彌陀佛,執持名號,若一日,若二日,若三日,若四日,若五日,若六日,若七日,一心不亂。

Śāriputra, one cannot be born in that land with few roots of goodness or small blessings and virtues as causal conditions. Śāriputra, if there are good men or good women who hear of Amitābha Buddha, and recite his name single-mindedly and without confusion for one day, two days, three days, four days, five days, six days, or seven days...

佛赞功德

舍利弗,我见是利,故说此言。若有众生,闻是说者,应当发愿,生彼国土。

舍利弗,我見是利,故說此言。若有眾生,聞是說者,應當發願,生彼國土。

Śāriputra, I see this benefit and therefore speak these words. If beings hear this teaching, they should make the vow to be born in that land.

六方佛赞

如我今者,赞叹阿弥陀佛不可思议功德之利。东方亦有阿閦鞞佛、须弥相佛、大须弥佛、须弥光佛、妙音佛,如是等恒河沙数诸佛,各于其国,出广长舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,说诚实言:汝等众生,当信是称赞不可思议功德一切诸佛所护念经。

如我今者,讚歎阿彌陀佛不可思議功德之利。東方亦有阿閦鞞佛、須彌相佛、大須彌佛、須彌光佛、妙音佛,如是等恆河沙數諸佛,各於其國,出廣長舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,說誠實言:汝等眾生,當信是稱讚不可思議功德一切諸佛所護念經。

南方诸佛

舍利弗,南方世界,有日月灯佛、名闻光佛、大焰肩佛、须弥灯佛、无量精进佛,如是等恒河沙数诸佛,各于其国,出广长舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,说诚实言:汝等众生,当信是称赞不可思议功德一切诸佛所护念经。

舍利弗,南方世界,有日月燈佛、名聞光佛、大燄肩佛、須彌燈佛、無量精進佛,如是等恆河沙數諸佛,各於其國,出廣長舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,說誠實言:汝等眾生,當信是稱讚不可思議功德一切諸佛所護念經。

Śāriputra, in the Southern World there are Sun-Moon-Lamp Buddha, Fame-Light Buddha, Great Flame-Shoulder Buddha, Sumeru-Lamp Buddha, and Measureless Vigor Buddha, as many Buddhas as the sands of the Ganges. Each in his own country extends a long, broad tongue that covers the three thousand great thousand worlds and speaks these truthful words: "All you beings should believe in this sutra, praised for its inconceivable virtues and protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas."

西方诸佛

舍利弗,西方世界,有无量寿佛、无量相佛、无量幢佛、大光佛、大明佛、宝相佛、净光佛,如是等恒河沙数诸佛,各于其国,出广长舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,说诚实言:汝等众生,当信是称赞不可思议功德一切诸佛所护念经。

舍利弗,西方世界,有無量壽佛、無量相佛、無量幢佛、大光佛、大明佛、寶相佛、淨光佛,如是等恆河沙數諸佛,各於其國,出廣長舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,說誠實言:汝等眾生,當信是稱讚不可思議功德一切諸佛所護念經。

Śāriputra, in the Western World there are Amitāyus Buddha, Measureless Appearance Buddha, Measureless Banner Buddha, Great Light Buddha, Great Illumination Buddha, Jewel Appearance Buddha, and Pure Light Buddha, as many Buddhas as the sands of the Ganges. Each in his own country extends a long, broad tongue that covers the three thousand great thousand worlds and speaks these truthful words: "All you beings should believe in this sutra, praised for its inconceivable virtues and protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas."

北方诸佛

舍利弗,北方世界,有焰肩佛、最胜音佛、难沮佛、日生佛、网明佛,如是等恒河沙数诸佛,各于其国,出广长舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,说诚实言:汝等众生,当信是称赞不可思议功德一切诸佛所护念经。

舍利弗,北方世界,有燄肩佛、最勝音佛、難沮佛、日生佛、網明佛,如是等恆河沙數諸佛,各於其國,出廣長舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,說誠實言:汝等眾生,當信是稱讚不可思議功德一切諸佛所護念經。

Śāriputra, in the Northern World there are Flame-Shoulder Buddha, Supreme Voice Buddha, Unimpeded Buddha, Sun-Born Buddha, and Net-Illumination Buddha, as many Buddhas as the sands of the Ganges. Each in his own country extends a long, broad tongue that covers the three thousand great thousand worlds and speaks these truthful words: "All you beings should believe in this sutra, praised for its inconceivable virtues and protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas."

下方诸佛

舍利弗,下方世界,有师子佛、名闻佛、名光佛、达摩佛、法幢佛、持法佛,如是等恒河沙数诸佛,各于其国,出广长舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,说诚实言:汝等众生,当信是称赞不可思议功德一切诸佛所护念经。

舍利弗,下方世界,有師子佛、名聞佛、名光佛、達摩佛、法幢佛、持法佛,如是等恆河沙數諸佛,各於其國,出廣長舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,說誠實言:汝等眾生,當信是稱讚不可思議功德一切諸佛所護念經。

Śāriputra, in the World Below there are Lion Buddha, Renowned Buddha, Light of Renown Buddha, Dharma Buddha, Dharma Banner Buddha, and Dharma Sustainer Buddha, as many Buddhas as the sands of the Ganges. Each in his own country extends a long, broad tongue that covers the three thousand great thousand worlds and speaks these truthful words: "All you beings should believe in this sutra, praised for its inconceivable virtues and protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas."

上方诸佛

舍利弗,上方世界,有梵音佛、宿王佛、香上佛、香光佛、大焰肩佛、杂色宝华严身佛、娑罗树王佛、宝华德佛、见一切义佛、如须弥山佛,如是等恒河沙数诸佛,各于其国,出广长舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,说诚实言:汝等众生,当信是称赞不可思议功德一切诸佛所护念经。

舍利弗,上方世界,有梵音佛、宿王佛、香上佛、香光佛、大燄肩佛、雜色寶華嚴身佛、娑羅樹王佛、寶華德佛、見一切義佛、如須彌山佛,如是等恆河沙數諸佛,各於其國,出廣長舌相,遍覆三千大千世界,說誠實言:汝等眾生,當信是稱讚不可思議功德一切諸佛所護念經。

Śāriputra, in the World Above there are Brahma-Sound Buddha, Constellation-King Buddha, Fragrance-Superior Buddha, Fragrant-Light Buddha, Great Flame-Shoulder Buddha, Variegated Jewel-Flower-Adorned Body Buddha, Sāla Tree King Buddha, Jewel-Flower-Virtue Buddha, Seeing All Meanings Buddha, and Sumeru-Like Buddha, as many Buddhas as the sands of the Ganges. Each in his own country extends a long, broad tongue that covers the three thousand great thousand worlds and speaks these truthful words: "All you beings should believe in this sutra, praised for its inconceivable virtues and protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas."

经文结语

舍利弗,于汝意云何?何故名为一切诸佛所护念经?舍利弗,若有善男子、善女人,闻是经受持者,及闻诸佛名者,是诸善男子、善女人,皆为一切诸佛之所护念,皆得不退转于阿耨多罗三藐三菩提。是故舍利弗,汝等皆当信受我语,及诸佛所说。

舍利弗,於汝意云何?何故名為一切諸佛所護念經?舍利弗,若有善男子、善女人,聞是經受持者,及聞諸佛名者,是諸善男子、善女人,皆為一切諸佛之所護念,皆得不退轉於阿耨多羅三藐三菩提。是故舍利弗,汝等皆當信受我語,及諸佛所說。

Śāriputra, what do you think? Why is this sutra called 'The Sutra that is protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas'? Śāriputra, if there are good men or good women who hear this sutra and uphold it, and who also hear the names of all these Buddhas, all these good men and good women will be protected and kept in mind by all the Buddhas, and all of them will attain non-retrogression in Anuttarā Samyaksaṃbodhi. Therefore, Śāriputra, all of you should faithfully accept my words and the words of all the Buddhas.

流通分

舍利弗,若有人已发愿、今发愿、当发愿,欲生阿弥陀佛国者,是诸人等,皆得不退转于阿耨多罗三藐三菩提,于彼国土,若已生、若今生、若当生。是故舍利弗,诸善男子、善女人,若有信者,应当发愿,生彼国土。

舍利弗,若有人已發願、今發願、當發願,欲生阿彌陀佛國者,是諸人等,皆得不退轉於阿耨多羅三藐三菩提,於彼國土,若已生、若今生、若當生。是故舍利弗,諸善男子、善女人,若有信者,應當發願,生彼國土。

Śāriputra, if there are people who have already vowed, are now vowing, or will vow to be born in the land of Amitābha Buddha, all these will attain non-retrogression in Anuttarā Samyaksaṃbodhi. In that land they have already been born, are now being born, or will be born. Therefore, Śāriputra, all good men and good women, if they have faith, should make the vow to be born in that land.

经文圆满

舍利弗,如我今者,称赞诸佛不可思议功德,彼诸佛等,亦称赞我不可思议功德,而作是言:释迦牟尼佛能为甚难希有之事,能于娑婆国土,五浊恶世,劫浊、见浊、烦恼浊、众生浊、命浊中,得阿耨多罗三藐三菩提,为诸众生,说是一切世间难信之法。舍利弗,当知我于五浊恶世,行此难事,得阿耨多罗三藐三菩提,为一切世间说此难信之法,是为甚难。

舍利弗,如我今者,稱讚諸佛不可思議功德,彼諸佛等,亦稱讚我不可思議功德,而作是言:釋迦牟尼佛能為甚難希有之事,能於娑婆國土,五濁惡世,劫濁、見濁、煩惱濁、眾生濁、命濁中,得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提,為諸眾生,說是一切世間難信之法。舍利弗,當知我於五濁惡世,行此難事,得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提,為一切世間說此難信之法,是為甚難。

Śāriputra, just as I now praise the inconceivable virtues of all the Buddhas, all those Buddhas also praise my inconceivable virtues, saying these words: 'Śākyamuni Buddha, you have accomplished a most difficult and rare deed. In the Śāha World, during the evil time of the five turbidities - the turbidity of the kalpa, the turbidity of views, the turbidity of afflictions, the turbidity of sentient beings, and the turbidity of life - you have attained Anuttarā Samyaksaṃbodhi and for the sake of sentient beings have spoken this Dharma, which is difficult for all the world to believe.' Śāriputra, you should know that in the evil time of the five turbidities, I have accomplished this difficult deed of attaining Anuttarā Samyaksaṃbodhi and of proclaiming for the whole world this Dharma that is difficult to believe - this is extremely difficult!"
